CRAM – AIR FORCE FLIGHT SCREENING PREPARATION
If you are interested in a career in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) but have never flown a plane before it’s worth doing the The Red Baron Flight Training (RBFT) Cram Course. Although flight-training experience is not a pre-requisite for an application to the RAAF, being prepared for flight screening by having a few hours flying time under your belt will give you a competitive advantage over other applicants.
RBFT Cram course is individually tailored to expose you to all three dimensions of the sky and teach you the preliminaries of loops, rolls, wing overs and spins. This course does not qualify you to fly these manoeuvres solo; what it does do is expose you to the sensory experiences of extreme attitudes and G forces and prepare you for the RAAF screening process.
As the Cram Course is individually tailored for each student the number of hours flown is up to you. Most participants average around 5 lessons. Lesson costs are based pro rata on the hourly dual hire rate.
Over the years a substantial number (over 90%) of cram course participants have been accepted into RAAF pilot training.
