Flight safety begins and ends with the pilot - YOU! If you cannot confidently handle your aircraft in all situations you may not be enjoying your flying as much as you would like to. Furthermore if you hope for the best or just pray the worst does not happen, the risk of an accident increases.

Ask yourself this…

  • Could you recover from a fully developed spin?
  • Could you recover from an approach configuration stall whilst turning final, without hitting the ground?
  • Do you feel confident of your chances of walking away from a forced landing after an engine failure?
  • Can you recognise impending loss of control situations and react to them instinctively?
  • Are you getting the fun and enjoyment from your flying you originally dreamed you would?

If the answer is NO to ANY of these questions one of these courses can help!

EMERGENCY MANOEUVRE TRAINING (EMT)

The Red Baron Flight Training (RBFT) Emergency Manoeuvre Training (EMT) course is designed to expose you, the pilot, to the most common mishandling situations so you know where your personal limits lie and how to go beyond those limits in an emergency.

The EMT course will allow you to experience extreme and unusual attitudes in a controlled environment, giving you greater confidence in your ability as a pilot and building your awareness of potential dangers BEFORE they happen.

All flying in this course is conducted in the Robin 2160/ALPHA 160A, which is an ideal aeroplane for the job as it is of a similar configuration to the most popular light aircraft – that is it is a fixed tri-gear, fixed pitch, side by side seat, low wing monoplane.

SYNOPSIS

  1. Attitude reference point, aileron roll & nose low inverted recoveries
  2. ‘G’ stalling and angle of attack control
  3. 2 ‘G’ turns, skidding/ slipping turns, stalling in side-slips and skidding turns
  4. Spinning
  5. General mishandling

The RBFT EMT course is a sure fire way to reduce the risk of accidents happening when you take your family and friends flying.

ADVANCED AIRCRAFT CONTROL (AAC)

For a more thorough grounding in emergency manoeuvre training we offer the Advanced Aircraft Control (AAC) course.

If you seek to improve your flying, enter the sport of aerobatics or simply enjoy your flying with greater confidence the RBFT AAC course is what you need.

The AAC course is a prerequisite for pilots who wish to undertake aerobatic training at RBFT as it lays the foundation of understanding about how planes really fly and how to control them. The RBFT GFPT training course incorporates the AAC as part of the syllabus.

The RBFT AAC course has five integrated elements, they are:

  1. Conversion to a Robin 2160/ALPHA 160A
  2. Advanced aircraft control techniques
  3. Aerobatics PHASE ONE endorsement
  4. Emergency spin recovery techniques
  5. Recognition of, and escape from, mishandled manoeuvres in any attitude

The course consists of 15 lessons, covering subjects such as precision approach control techniques, direct angle of attack control, dynamic stalling, autorotation, spinning, pitch & roll control and escape from mishandling manoeuvres. The course takes you from known situations to unknown situations in a controlled build up so you have a full understanding of what is occurring and full control of the aircraft at every step.

Each lesson will last approximately 2 ½ hours. The first hour prior to the flight is dedicated to a full description of all aspects of the flight to come, the aerodynamics, the control techniques and the limits to be applied. Each flight will take approximately one hour and the remaining time will be spent doing pre and post flight preparation and de briefing.

At the end of the course you will have knowledge and understanding of the real limits of yourself and the aircraft combined with the confidence and ability to control the aircraft in any situation.

SYNOPSIS

  1. Orientation and assessment flight
  2. Aircraft technical inspection and attitude control
  3. Aileron rolls
  4. Circuits
  5. ‘G’ stalling and angle of attack control
  6. Loops
  7. Wing overs
  8. Falling leaf and side slipping
  9. Forced landings
  10. Consolidation
  11. Spinning
  12. Spinning and mishandling
  13. Dual consolidation
  14. Solo practice
  15. Endorsement check

Since our aim is to produce a confident, competent pilot we train to a standard, not a set price, so the final figure will vary for each student.

Whatever the final cost, the superior skills you develop will be your ultimate insurance policy – after all…
